For Season 6 of StoryTANK — the European think tank bringing writers and researchers together — five researchers from different fields take a fresh look at how stories are created:
Drawing on storytelling experiments conducted with international fiction writers at Le Groupe Ouest with lim² | less is more, they explore what happens when research meets creative practice — and shed new light on how thoughts, ideas and stories emerge.
The result? 5 documentaries. 5 perspectives. A wealth of creative resources for screenwriters and anyone who wants to think differently about creativity.

As part of its 5th season, the StoryTANK team decided to try a new experiment, led by six captivated and captivating researchers. e goal was to test and fi lm the emergence of story ideas in experimental settings created by THE FACTORY OF WORLDS—a unique facility in Europe that has been under construction at Groupe Ouest since 2023, under the aegis of the French Ministry of Culture. e experiment was offered to 6 screenwriters or filmmakers from 6 European countries. The StoryTANK allows us to explore and shed light on the practices of fiction writers, at a precise moment when story generation is being transformed by the digital revolutions, from artifi cial intelligence to algorithms. Also, at a time when our social, political, and ecological benchmarks are faltering. The StoryTANK focuses here on three experimental prototypes: 1 the Cave, 2 the Black Room, and 3 the Plateau. is experiment is a fi rst. What stories for our time?
After three years of convincing exchanges via internet and YouTube, StoryTANK took up residence in Rennes (Brittany, France) for a series of public events at Les Champs Libres. For two days, the intimate practice of fiction writers as well as the impact of their stories in our lives has been questioned, explored and clarified.
