Atiq Rahimi

Atiq Rahimi is a Franco-Afghan writer and director. His first novel, Terre et cendres, was published in 2000. He adapted it for the cinema in 2004, for which he was nominated at the Cannes Film Festival and awarded the Prix du Regard vers l’Avenir. He will also adapt it for opera in 2011. In 2008, he won the Prix Goncourt for his novel Syngue Sabour, pierre de patience. This novel was also adapted for the screen, once again by its author and Jean-Claude Carrière. It was released in 2013 and received several nominations at various French film festivals. His novel Les Porteurs d’eau was published in 2019, and his third feature film, Notre Dame du Nil, which won a prize at the Berlinale, was released in 2020. Atiq Rahimi has been an active participant and driving force in all the fields of action and research of Groupe Ouest – the Film Lab behind StoryTANK – since its inception.
