Matthieu Taponier is a Franco-American screenwriter, script consultant and editor. After studying Lettres Modernes in Paris, he obtained a Master’s degree in film from the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University (NYU). He trained as a script consultant at TorinoFilmLab’s Script&Pitch workshop and has since led workshops such as ‘Next Step’ at La Semaine de la Critique, ‘Hezayah Screenwriting Lab’ at the Doha Film Institute and Le Groupe Ouest (Cross Chanel Film Lab, Puissance & Ame, LIM | Less is More). He has worked on films by László Nemes: as script consultant and editor on Son of Saul (Grand Prix Cannes 2015, Golden Globe, Oscar and BAFTA for Best Foreign Film 2016); as co-writer and editor on Sunset (FIPRESCI Venice 2018). He also worked as an editor on Adventures of a Mathematician by Thorsten Klein (Palm Springs 2020) and as a script consultant and editor on Beginning by Dea Kulumbegashvili (Cannes 2020, FIPRESCI TIFF 2020, Coquille d’or San Sebastian 2020).
