Ralitza Petrova (née en 1976 à Sofia, Bulgarie) a étudié le cinéma et l’art vidéo à l’University of the Arts London, puis la réalisation de fictions à la National Film and Television School (NFTS) du Royaume-Uni. Ses courts métrages ont été largement acclamés dans le circuit des festivals de cinéma, notamment à Cannes, Berlin et Locarno, ainsi que sur de nombreuses plateformes artistiques, telles que la Tate Modern et le Centre Pompidou. En 2016, son premier long métrage, GODLESS, a été présenté en avant-première au Festival du film de Locarno, où il a remporté quatre prix, dont le Léopard d’or du meilleur film. Depuis, le film a remporté 27 prix et a été nommé pour la Découverte européenne 2017 – Prix FIPRESCI par l’Académie européenne du film. Ralitza Petrova est boursière du DAAD Artist-in-Berlin Program 2019, où elle a développé son prochain long métrage LUST, une coproduction bulgare-danoise-suédoise, soutenue par le Centre national du film bulgare, The Danish Film Institute, FilmiVast, et Eurimages, qui est actuellement en postproduction au Danemark.
Ralitza Petrova est conférencière et consultante en scénario dans de nombreux laboratoires et plates-formes cinématographiques internationaux, dont le LIM Less is More du Groupe Ouest (France, Lituanie, Norvège, Écosse, Suisse), Ventana CineMad (Espagne), La Sélection Annuelle du Groupe Ouest (France), PridexPower Lab (Bulgarie), Creative Academy « Rabbit Hole » (Bulgarie).
