Matthieu Taponier est un scénariste, consultant scénario et monteur franco-américain. Après des études de Lettres Modernes à Paris, il a obtenu un Master de cinéma à la Tisch School of the Arts de l’Université de New York (NYU). Il a été formé comme consultant scénario à l’atelier Script&Pitch du TorinoFilmLab et anime depuis des ateliers tels que « Next Step » de la Semaine de la Critique, « Hezayah Screenwriting Lab » du Doha Film Institute et Le Groupe Ouest (Cross Chanel Film Lab, Puissance & Ame, LIM | Less is More). Il a collaboré sur les films de László Nemes : comme consultant scénario et monteur sur Le Fils de Saul de (Grand Prix Cannes 2015, Golden Globe, Oscar et BAFTA du Meilleur Film Étranger 2016) ; comme coscénariste et monteur sur Sunset (FIPRESCI Venise 2018). Il a également collaboré comme monteur sur Adventures of a Mathematician de Thorsten Klein (Palm Springs 2020) et, comme consultant scénario et monteur sur Beginning de Dea Kulumbegashvili (Cannes 2020, FIPRESCI TIFF 2020, Coquille d’or San Sebastian 2020).
