Julien Lilti a terminé ses études en sociologie et développement rural en 2002. Après un master en cinéma documentaire obtenu en 2003, il a travaillé comme JRI pour Canal+ pendant quatre ans tout en prenant part à plusieurs films devant ou derrière la caméra. En 2007, il quitte le journalisme pour devenir scénariste. Depuis, il a écrit aussi bien pour la télévision (Pahé), que pour le cinéma et le documentaire (GillesCaron, j’aivouluvoir). Hippocrate, long métrage qu’il a co-écrit, était projeté en clôture de la 53eSemaine de la Critique. Adama, son long métrage d’animation sorti en octobre 2015 a été sélectionné dans de nombreux festivals (Chicago, San Sebastian, Annecy…) et fait partie des trois longs métrages d’animation nominés pour les European Films Awards 2015. Julien Lilti écrit actuellement deux longs métrages et un programme télévisé pour Canal+.
